Resort Review: Prakruti Resort in Kashid, Maharashtra

The Prakruti Resort at Kashid Beach is probably the most sought after resort for weekend breaks for Mumbaikers (Read: Kashid — Weekend Getaway from Mumbai) . The resort is on a huge expanse of land on the beach and have a private entry to the beach, but mind you, it’s NOT a beach front resort. Surprising.

Located off the main Kashid road, Prakruti Resorts has the trappings of a nice resort in a hamlet — tight security, excellent reception, though not very polished staff. Hence, do not expect a 5* – like behavior.

How is the stay at Prakruti Resorts in Kashid? Golf carts take you to the villas or rooms as the property is well spread out. We had a room above the Spa, at the far end of the resort. The rooms are in the first floor, decent-sized with a big balcony and good décor. The amenities inside are average though.

How is the food at Prakruti Resorts in Kashid? Meals are served at the Nisarga restaurant – its buffet with a decent variety. Alchohol is served too. And service is good. Rates are on the higher side, but for large corporate bookings, they allow liquor to be brought in from outside after charging Rs. 500 for ‘corkage’. This, I think, is a good option.
For lunch they have excellent Fish Fry. Sadly, they do not serve Fish Fries for dinner – could not understand why!! Breakfast at the resorts is very basic, with limited options

How are the other amenities at Prakruti Resorts in Kashid? They have a decent Spa and a children’s play area.  The TT table & Tennis Courts are badly maintained though. The swimming pool looked great but we did not have the time to take a dip. And anyway, the beach is just a 5 minute walk from the resorts, why swim in the pool which we can do in Mumbai every day??!! They have Bullock Cart services (!!) to take you to the beach!! Ride it, we insist, for you can’t do this in Mumbai.  Hehe…….

The beach is not a private one, although there is private entry from the resorts. We have always maintained that Kashid is one of the cleanest beaches in India — the beach front is excellent, very clean and a long stretch which we almost had exclusively for ourselves that early morning.

What I didn’t like about Prakruti Resorts in Kashid! The fact that they charge a bomb but don’t give even 2 bottles of mineral water in the room; that they made you sign papers for requesting an iron in the room  — beats me to think who would run away with the 10 yr-old piece of metal that can be better used as a dumb-bell? You will find the front-office staff & porters to be inadequately trained. They lack sense of hospitality; no smiles, no favours, not even anyone helping you with the luggage.

Prakruti is a big, nice, clean resort but completely lacks personal touch!
