All About A Czech Holiday – Itinerary, Sightseeing, Hotels & Food

Czech Republic Holiday

Our Czech Republic exploration started with the small heritage town, Cesky Krumlov, in the south. We drove over from Hallstatt (Austria) through the blink-and-you-will-miss border, noting the slight change in the topography – the expansive meadows of Austria gives way to thick forests as you enter Czech.

Cesky Krumlov is a small town with a huge castle. Marked by cobbled streets, shallow Vtalava river, pretty bridges, trdelník-corners (Doughnut ice-cream), music everywhere, it is important to take it easy in Cesky Krumlov. How else will you allow the lovely town to seep in within you? We simply loitered around exploring its streets and greens…

And then a day in Kutna Hora, known for its silver mines, Bone Church and the St Barbara Church for that good dose of history, religion and simplicity…

Prague, though, was waiting to overwhelm us with her many many many monuments and compelling history. That rare European city to have escaped the wrath of World War II, here was miles and miles of important buildings in front of us with layers and layers of stories from generations gone by. Not without reason, then, is Prague considered to be one of the most beautiful cities of the world. And although registering for a year-long history class would have been the right thing to do, we set out with a vengeance to unravel her past and understand her present….

In the next few weeks, I will write down, one by one, about everything we saw, did and ate in Czech Republic so that you too can plan a holiday there. Follow this post….
