Restaurant Review: Poush @Phoenix Market City in Mumbai

I hate the food courts in the malls. I hate the confused smells of food coming from every table/joint, the sea of patrons eating a burger, chaat, biryani, noodles all at the same time, the cacophony, the sight of so much food!! And that’s why I hated catching a movie at the Phoenix Market City in Kurla. Other than the crazy food-court, and the sad Crème Centre and another sadder joint whose name I can’t recall, there weren’t any eating options out there. Until we discovered otherwise after watching Frozen last week. It looked to us that Phoenix City was on a restaurant-opening-spree – Moti Mahal, some Royal something, RainForest etc. Poush, a Kashmiri restaurant, with its Shikhara on display and beige-coloured curtains and wooden embellishments looked inviting. We went in…

Poush @Phoenix Market City in Mumbai

Ambience @Poush in Phoenic Market City, Kurla: It is indeed in the style of a Shikara. We mistook it for the Kashmiri joint we dined at in Oshiwara some 3-4 years ago, KongPoush. This Poush is, instead, a chain of the Poushs in Andheri West and Thane. This particular joint was apparently just a week old in the Phoenix Market City. Which is why, everything is so spic and span – the curtains, upholstery..

Interiors of Poush @Phoenix Market City in Mumbai

Food @Poush in Phoenic Market City, Kurla: They serve the usual royal-sounding fare like Gosht Yakhni, Kokur Yakhini, Murgh Dum shorba, Goshtaba, Rista etc. We were hungry and settled for the non-veg thali comprising – Sheekh Kababs, Rajma, Nadier Palak, Roganjosh, Kokur Yakhini, Raita, Roti, Rice and Phirni. All for Rs 475 per plate. Quite a bit of food there. I shared my plate with my daughter – gave her the rice and chicken, while I stuck to rotis. Even then, there was too much to eat!! Jayant, often in the habit of ordering Thalis out of sheer greed, too agreed that one full Thali is a challenge to finish. But somehow, he never learns his lesson. Will forget it the next time he sees a good line-up of items…

The food is tasty. They served the sweet-scented, herbed Kashmiri chai too, which I would have enjoyed some more had I not been so full!!

Stick to ordering ala carte and maybe you will enjoy the food at Poush even more. There won’t be the stress to finish it, after-all!

Final Word on @Poush in Phoenic Market City, Kurla: Go for it if you are in mood for Kashmiri food. For Powaiites, this is a great option as we no longer have to drive up to Andheri for those Yakhni Pulaos and Shorbas and Kashmiri Goshts…

I had groupon voucher which i purchased online so Today we visited poush resto, When we entered the resto the ambience was average the pics which you can see on website are totally different. The place where we sat there was no AC flow. Later we found rats inside the resto. Then we ordered chicken soup found insect in it. Informed the same thing to manager but she was making faces and was least bother about the issue as if it hardly matters to her. So i would recommend the visitors to avoid going to such places where there is no hygiene maintained nor cleanliness And they dont value customers .Overall this is the worst resto i ever visited. My rating will be .0.5/5.0

Oh really? Too bad! We went there when they had just opened. Pity when restaurants can’t live upto basic service levels….
