Staying @Premier Inn, Edinburg (Scotland)

Premier Inn Edinburg was just as good as the reviews said it is. Good location, 15 mins from the Airport … right next to the Edinburgh Park Station from where the train takes 8 mins to Waverly Station which is the city centre. The rooms are nice with fridge and coffee machine, hair dryer. The check-in is different, no reception but through a touch screen kiosk. No nonsense … efficient. Friendly front office staff is there to help you everyway. The Thyme restaurant offers decent pasta / dinner options … we had it the first evening as we were in late. The breakfast was however excellent … a full hot unlimited option at Eur 8 with child eating free. Choice of eggs, sausages, hash brown, cereals, breads, Danish pastries, muffins yogurt etc… choice is excellent.

The hotel has a Costa Coffee outlet in the complex which was always closed … didn’t bother to find out why. Right opposite the station (using the over-bridge), you have a big mall with Tescos, B&Q, Mother care and other outlets + KFC and a doughnut restaurant. Nothing else as such … but you have the whole city to enjoy. At GBP 50 a night, you cannot expect anything more. Only concern – 30 mins internet per stay, ridiculous in today’s time where even restaurants offer it free. You need to buy a 24 hr pass for GBP 3 otherwise.

A good way to see the city and stay close to the airport. For those who want to enjoy the excellent pubs and nightlife, would recommend strongly recommend that you stay near the Royal Mile or Princess Street. This is a quite part for those who want to retire a little early.
