Restaurant Review — Grillopolis Andheri West, Mumbai

grillo

This restaurant is total VFM, value for money … cannot think of any other which comes close on their brunch offer. Had read good reviews and wanted to try out this joint for a long time and made it one Saturday for brunch. Was surprised to get a call-checking on my reservation … as the whole place was empty barring 2 tables at that hour.

The restaurant is well done up, spacious though I am not sure how it stacks up when full. The staff is very friendly but they don’t have a menu card informing of the starters there!! That certainly is a negative. We faced a big problem with cocktails & mocktails as well, as there was nothing printed and the verbal description was well, woefully inadequate. Sadly, 2 cocktails had to be wasted as they were just terrible.

The offer at Rs. 750 PP (with taxes) is a steal, noting it comes with beer / wine / cocktails and mocktails and with 5 veg / Non Veg starters and buffet breakfast!!!! You should go empty stomach and have a driver who can drive you back after you’ve had your fill!!!

The starters were all excellent – which was a pleasant surprise. Two chicken items, mutton sheekhs, grilled prawns and steamed basa fish … the latter two were one of the best I have had in recent years. The prawns were cooked just perfect, juicy & tasty. The Basa was again fantastic, made with a green masala coat (like patrani machchi). We must have had multiple rounds and they came back with more – smiling.

This place is god-sent for Non-Veg eaters but veg food lovers need not worry too. The mushrooms were excellent, so was the potato grill.

For main course, the biryani & soup were average… Mutton roast was nice, along with the 3 Non-Veg salads. Pasta wasn’t any good. The biggest disappointment were the deserts — just 2 types of pastries (chocolate one really dry) and a strawberry mousse. We asked for ice cream and they got us the vanilla with chocolate sauce.

Overall a good experience. Will be back for sure, the day I am hungry like a farmer!!!
